The Truth Serum is a play about Lockdown set against the backdrop of the COVID19 global pandemic. The storyline captures a slice of history between March-July 2020 and two narrators remind us of the major national events in that period, acting as "fly on the wall" commentators. One couple lives in Milan, and the other couples live in London. Lockdown significantly impacts all six people in very different ways.
This production was written, rehearsed, planned, produced and finally performed entirely on Zoom. The cast was from Milan, Athens, London, Bath, Scotland and Mexico City. Those factors interested our international audience almost as much as the story itself.
The play was broadcasted live on 5/6th December whilst much of Europe was still under Lockdown 2.0. The Truth Serum received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and the live discussion was a delightful and intimate exchange between the audience and cast about the play, the backstage production and the new medium.
Online theatre is an inclusive medium for our transformative times. We are all designed to be storytellers, and whether this is online or offline, the show must go on!

ABOUT US
RebCat Creations was formed during Lockdown June 2020 as a way to stage stories online, a way for all those passionate about the performing arts on stage , backstage and production to carry on writing stories and perform them through a new medium.
The Truth Serum is the first play to be staged by RebCat Creations. Catherine and Rebecca Dixon wrote the story online in July and August of 2020 hoping to contrast the mood of these two magnificent cities through the lives of three couples, one living in Milan and two in London.
Cast and crew hailing from Milan, Athens, London, Bath, Scotland and Mexico City all worked with hearty commitment. Director Cathy made it clear from the start that we needed to embrace this platform not as a substitute for the conventional stage, but as an innovative way of staging a play and a living story. This is where the magic started.
The play in three acts includes drama, music and imagery. We hope that this will be the first in a long line of productions.
